In 1954 Pan American World Airways launched its first regular transatlantic flights.

Pilots had to manage two time zones simultaneously. Rolex was approached. Within a few months, the GMT-Master was born, featuring a two-tone bezel and an additional GMT hand.

The so-called “Pepsi” bezel—blue for night, red for day—is the original configuration.

It allows the wearer to visually distinguish at a glance whether the second time zone is in day or night mode.

This perfect ergonomics made the GMT the benchmark watch for the entire commercial aviation industry for decades.

The 16700 from 1999 is the last generation of GMT-Master with a two-tone aluminum bezel. It embodies the classic GMT in its purest form.

The partnership between Rolex and Pan American World Airways to develop the GMT-Master is one of the most frequently cited examples of watch co-development.

By the time Pan Am went bankrupt in 1991, the GMT-Master had already far outlived its original sponsor—worn by pilots from airlines around the world.

Returns

You have 30 days from receipt of your order to exercise your right of withdrawal.
Returns are covered within France, and refunds are issued to the original payment method within 30 days of receiving the returned item, provided that the product is sent back in its original condition, complete, and accompanied by the invoice.
