Founded in 1860 in Florence with a boutique, workshop and watchmaking school, Panerai was for years the supplier of precision instruments to the Italian Navy's frogmen commandos. Originally designed for use in the depths of the ocean, Panerai watches are famous for their unparalleled legibility and luminosity in the dark. In 1997, Panerai was acquired by the Richemont Group and launched on the international market. Today, Panerai develops and produces its movements and watches at its Neuchâtel factory, where it combines the elegance and history of Italian design with Swiss watchmaking expertise.
